Expert Yoga Instructor, Health & Wellness Writer, Preventive Health Consultant

Sandy Blaine resides in Oakland, and has been teaching full time in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1993. She is a founding partner and co-director of the Alameda Yoga Station, which opened in 1995. Her work includes serving as the in-house yoga teacher at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, California, where she has worked closely with the continuing education department, Pixar University, in developing its employee wellness program. In 1995, she graduated from the renowned Advanced Studies Program at The Yoga Room, in Berkeley, California, and joined the faculty in 2000.

Sandy's writing includes Yoga For Healthy Knees (Rodmell Press, March 2005), which continues to be a best-selling yoga title on Amazon.com, and her most recent book, Yoga For Computer Users (Rodmell Press, May 2008). Her articles have appeared in Yoga International, Ascent, and Yoga Journal. Her Yoga International essay"Yoga For Sale" was selected for the anthology of the magazine's best writing, Spirit on the Move, published in 2005 by Himalayan Press. Google bought Yoga For Computer Users for its employees and invited Sandy to speak in August 2008 as part of its guest author series. 

Sandy grew up in Berkeley, California, where she took her first yoga class in 1987. She immediately fell in love with the discipline of yoga as a means for achieving integrated well-being, and she is passionate about sharing the profound benefits of yoga practice with others through her teaching and her writing. Sandy has trained in several different styles of yoga, including Iyengar, Ashtanga Vinyasa, and Restorative; in addition to her expertise in workplace wellness and stress reduction, she specializes in helping people develop their own personalized practice for maximum effectiveness.
